Considering a career in Counseling?

Vermont State University Masters Degree in Counseling designed for working adults. Do you prefer In Person learning, but need a program that is accessible, given your work schedule? Do you wonder about winter travel? Whether you are working in the mental health or substance use counseling field now or you are considering a career change, the VTSU MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is designed for you:

  • Classes meet One-Weekend-A-Month.

  • Classes are In Person in Williston, late Spring through Fall, and on zoom in the winter months, to avoid difficult travel.

  • Faculty are mental health experts from around the state - clinical and organizational leaders, with real-world as well as academic experience.

  • In a Cohort model - our students become a community of practice, sharing their real world experience and growth.

  • The degree prepares you for licensure as an LCMHC in VT and includes most of the content for the LADC (mental health counseling and alcohol and drug counseling).

We are accepting applications now, to begin in the Spring, Summer and Fall of 2026.

Upcoming Virtual Information Sessions (join any of these upcoming Thursdays):
